First Call Confidentiality Policy

First Call Confidentiality Policy

All personal information disclosed by the client during therapy sessions will be treated as confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the therapy relationship, except as outlined in this policy.

In order to provide the best possible care for the client, it may be necessary to share information with other professionals, such as a client's GP or other healthcare providers. In these circumstances, the client's written permission will be obtained before any information is shared.

In rare circumstances, it may be necessary to breach confidentiality if there is a risk of harm to the client or others. For example, if the therapist has reason to believe that the client may harm themselves or others, or if the therapist becomes aware of any illegal activity, they may be required by law to report this information to the appropriate authorities. However, the therapist will always try to discuss this with the client first and seek their permission, unless doing so would put the client or others at further risk.

All records and notes relating to the therapy sessions will be kept secure and confidential, and will only be accessible to the therapist and any other professionals involved in the client's care, in accordance with GDPR regulations.

Clients have the right to access any information held about them, and may request a copy of their records at any time. However, the therapist may withhold any information that could be harmful to the client or others, or that could breach someone else's confidentiality.

Clients are also entitled to request that certain information not be shared with anyone outside of the therapy relationship, and the therapist will always respect these requests unless there are legal or ethical reasons not to do so.

The therapist will always aim to protect the client's confidentiality to the best of their ability, but clients should be aware that no electronic or physical system is completely secure. Therefore, the therapist cannot guarantee that their records and notes will never be accessed by unauthorized individuals.

By signing this policy, clients acknowledge that they have read and understand the above guidelines regarding confidentiality in therapy.
